Quail
The 2011 - 2012 Quail Season begins on October 15th. At Pursell Farms, you can expect nothing less than excellent quail hunting. As guests wind through the picturesque farm, rattle across the wooden bridge and pass the longhorn cattle grazing alongside the road, they’ll begin to slow down and appreciate the beauty that God has created. From the moment hunters arrive at our front gate, the atmosphere and the mood are set for an unforgettable experience.

A day of hunting begins at Hamilton Place, the 1840’s plantation home restored by the Pursell family. Its mystique and grandeur take guests back to a feeling of old South, back in time to the rich history and the tradition of the surrounding land. After a delicious home-cooked meal, guides will help load everyone into Club Car 4x4 vehicles and travel to the hunting area managed primarily for quail hunting, with a perfect mix of native cover and thinned, mature pine stands. Several plots of planted crops are also dispersed throughout the farm. This manicured terrain makes for enjoyable walking, especially when following behind a brace of well-trained bird dogs. Hunters will enjoy watching our dogs work the fields, and when he or she suddenly locks on point, anticipation will build upon approach, leading to that indescribable thrill of seeing, hearing and feeling a covey rise! After an enjoyable and successful quail hunt, a few good laughs and a few new stories to share, guests will return to an outstanding meal and luxury accommodations.
